These are the continuing voyages of the writer bewilderbrain.
Nature seeker, photographer, middle-aged walker with attitude.
I write ( and occasionally rant) about walking, landscapes, people, and the wonderful absurdity of the ordinary…
About mental health and connection – about searching for more uplifting pathways and perspectives on day to day life – and walking their ups and downs.
But I am not a wellness manual.
I’m a land of mists, meandering minds, and moody cows.
Because wellness and joy aren’t easy, linear, or formulaic.
And they don’t come in ten point plans.
They lurk in the dark with surprising disregard for propriety, and they spring up in the depths of our chaos.
If we let them in.

In this place, I choose the uplifting.
I seek solace in nature, and in the humour, inspiration and beautiful ridiculousness of the everyday.
So, if you like the outdoors, atmosphere, escape, random tales, accidental wisdom, surprised sheep…
And you’re a fan of weathered, but unapologetic optimism…
You might like it here…
Those of us with nomadic pasts may struggle to feel rooted …Home is where the heart sings, the mind opens, and the footsteps are trodden fearlessly… Continue reading
A few metres onto the track, I stop, take a deep inhalation of the rain washed greenery… the air takes on that deeper, fuller quality under trees… Continue reading
In May, nature simply lifts a veil, and life flows in with wild and natural fervour. At this moment, the vibration of spring unleashed fills the air. Continue reading
My walking diaries are my records of everyday escapades into nature, immersing myself in the sights, sounds and sensations of the landscapes and seasons around me.
They are 10 minute escape pods for the senses.
The changes creep beguilingly across the leaf scattered pathways, bursts of vivid colour, softer, lower sunlight, and a breath of magic in the air.
The deep blue skies are clear but darkening, a soft beckon, a gentle thrall – the energy of day, and of summer – meeting the darker enigma of autumn. I seek to pause, to absorb, to let nature’s breath back into my hungry senses…
Delicious summer drizzle, rabbits on misty fields, heady perfumed flowers, a bounty of birds and the worlds best highland cow…
To boldly go where no woman has gone before…(or at the very least for a short walk down the back lane)
